A casino provides certain activities including gambling. These casinos are mostly built near big hotels, restaurants or various cruise ships which attract a lot of tourist population. Some casinos even host live events such as various standup comedy or other concerts. The earliest of the casinos were established in the city of Venice in the year 1638. They included the activities of pleasure which included gambling and other sorts of games. Not all casinos were used for gambling. Many casinos were used for theatre shows and even for holding public meetings. Though the exact origin of gambling is still unknown, it was first seen in the Chinese culture in 2300 B.C. This activity is seen in almost every culture of the world, be it ancient Greeks or Romans, or the royal country of England. This game of chance, as this is also known, fills the culture with entertainment. The casinos in American history were known earlier as saloons. These saloons helped the people to meet with others, have a drink and often gamble. During the early 20th century, gambling was banned in the American legislature. However in 1931, it was again legalized in the cities of Nevada and the famous Las Vegas, also known as the sin city which had America’s first official casinos. Laws concerning gambling have changed over the years, being harsh in the beginning and then getting relaxed. The legal age to gamble is 18-21 years and even as low as 16 in some states.
